Focus on your action
You have a role in action, but not ownership of its results. Do not let the fruits of action be your only motive, nor become attached to inaction.
Steadiness in success and difficulty
Established in yoga, act without attachment and remain even-minded in success and failure. Such balance is called yoga.
Remember that experiences change
Contact with the world brings sensations of heat and cold, pleasure and pain. They arise and pass; learn to meet them with patience.
Act without clinging
Therefore, consistently do the work that ought to be done without attachment. Through unattached action, a person moves toward the highest good.
Lift yourself through your choices
Let a person raise themselves and not lower themselves. The self can be one's friend, and the self can also act as one's adversary.
Gently return the wandering mind
Whenever the restless, unsteady mind wanders, gently bring it back and guide it toward the inner self.
Practice goodwill and compassion
One dear to the Divine bears no hatred toward any being, is friendly and compassionate, free from possessiveness and ego, balanced in joy and sorrow, and forgiving.
Become a source of calm
One who does not disturb the world and is not disturbed by it, and who is free from agitation born of excessive excitement, resentment, fear and anxiety, is dear to the Divine.
Seek refuge with trust
Krishna invites Arjuna to take refuge in Him, promises release from wrongdoing, and says not to grieve. Traditions interpret this verse in different theological ways.
